FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • No, In Australia Physiotherapists are first contact practitioners, meaning no referral is required. If your Doctor or Specialist has provided you with a referral please bring it along.

  • We offer a range of different initial appointment types. Appointments range from 30-60 minutes.

  • We allow plenty of time in your first consult to discuss your condition. Usually this involves quite personal questions (especially if you have a pelvic floor consult). The more information you provide to us the quicker it can be to get a sound diagnosis. A vaginal examination may be best practice for assessment to assess your pelvic floor. If this is required we will discuss this with you on the day of your consult.

  • We will send you registration and consent forms to a nominated email address prior to your first appointment. If you could please bring these documents to your appointment. Any previous documentation or investigation reports from other health professionals regarding your condition may be helpful.

  • A pelvic floor assessment may be indicated if you suffer from any urinary/faecal incontinence or urgency, a heaviness or dragging sensation vaginally, pain with sex, lower abdominal or back/coccyx pain, or have had children. If you are unsure what your pelvic floor is or how to activate your pelvic floor muscles a pelvic floor assessment can be extremely informative.

  • Absolutely. Children are always more than welcome to attend appointments.

  • As soon as you can. Usually 3-4 weeks is a great time to touch base with your pelvic floor physiotherapist. Even if you have no pelvic floor dysfunction symptoms, it is important to rehabilitate your pelvic floor with an individualised program. Remember though, it is never too early or late to start looking after your pelvic floor.

  • Yes you can, as long as you are covered with extra’s (physiotherapy).
